Shauna's old friend Meredith, an Aussie turned Londoner, showed us wonderful night out on the town. Starting off at a Kensington wine bar where you pre-load a card which you use to walk around the bar and poor tasters or full glasses of wine from dozens of bottles from around the world! Guess who was excited ;-)
We hopped on the Tube to Old Street and checked out Jamie Oliver's FIFTEEN project, staffed by hoodlums he has personally reformed and trained as amazing chefs! Bravo Jamie! Was a wonderful little trattoria with rustic Italian cuisine. Meredith and I coaxed Shauna into trying giant green olives (she ate two!). We shared several dishes that were lovely, but my Gnocchi took the night :)
We shut the place down and hopped the last train back to Shepperd's Bush. The underground was full of hooligans stumbling home on a Saturday night. And as a welcome gift to London, the fellow sitting across from us decided to share his dinner and drinks from earlier in the evening. So kind. He sprinkled our shoes.. kind of like when the hotels sprinkle flower peddles on your bed...but not quite.
Thank you London for such a colorful welcome on our first day :)
